AWARENESS CLASS ON VIRAL HEPATITIS & SHIGELLA

An awareness programme on viral hepatitis and shigella was conducted for students from Std. 1 to X with the aim of promoting health and hygiene awareness among young learners. The session was led by Health Inspector Mr.Suraj, Junior Health Inspector Mr.Linson and Staff Nurse Ms.Shilpa from the Ramanattukara Health Department. The programme commenced with a warm welcome followed by an introductory address by Principal Sr.Leena, who introduced the resource persons and highlighted the significance of the awareness session. The keynote session was handled by Health Inspector Mr.Suraj, who delivered an informative presentation on viral hepatitis and shigella infection. He explained the causes, modes of transmission, symptoms, preventive measures, treatment and the importance of maintaining personal hygiene and consuming safe food and drinking water. His interactive and engaging presentation helped the students understand the significance of disease prevention and healthy lifestyle practices. As a part of the practical session, Staff Nurse Ms.Shilpa demonstrated the correct hand washing technique using hand wash . She emphasized the importance of proper hand hygiene in preventing the spread of infectious diseases. Students actively participated in the demonstration and learned the recommended steps for effective hand washing. The programme proved to be highly informative, interactive and beneficial. It successfully enhanced the students awareness of communicable diseases and inspired them to adopt healthy hygienic practices in their daily lives. The session concluded with an interactive question and answer segment, during which the students actively participated by raising their doubts and clarifying their queries. The resource person responded patiently, making the session more engaging and informative. The event came to a close with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Beena P expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the programme.
